Where the music of the Baroque period was ordered, efficient and complex, the new sound of the Classical period tended to focus on simplifying things a little bit, but also making them bigger. Classical music is rooted in Western culture. It includes both religious and secular music. Sometimes, the term classical is used to refer to music from the Classical period (1750 to 1820).
